Pidgin....More then just an IM...

I started using pidgin from the time i started using ubuntu....Well everything started from a search to have gtalk on ubuntu. Why i use GTalk, well google did a great thing integrating orkut with gtalk all my friends on orkut automatically were added to gtalk and so always connected...

Well after reading certain blogs of how to install gtalk through wine and nearly doing but still didn't work ,i came to know about the application Pidgin(for Gnome) and Kopete(for KDE) as i had ubuntu i opted for pidgin and from then till now i have not used Gtalk again ya even on windows too.(PIDGIN IS THERE FOR WINDOWS TOO)

U might be wondering that how come i was looking for Gtalk and got that solved through a third party software not related in any way to google.Well pidgin uses the Jabber protocol to connect to Gtalk and other gateways to connect to yahoo and others messenger so yes only one client for every messenger. The list contains many like AIM,MSN,YAhoo,GTALK,MyspaceIM,IRC's and many more.

One problem with Gtalk and the yahoo messenger is that if you have two accounts on them and you want to login on both of them at one time, then you don't have any option to do that. But pidgin solves it,and believe me or not it is really a great feature any number of gmail account logined at a time.

But still pidgin doesn't support voice and video as in gtalk or ym...but i don't need it and have skype whose voice quality is best in all of them and is available for windows and linux.

So Pidgin is a a very usefull im clien and would be one of the first software which i will install if i set up a new machine agian.

You can download the pidgin from here...

Enso...It makes everything so easy.

Some time back i came across a software called as Enso...
It is a helpful piece of software and once you start using you get so addicted that you don't want to use windows without it.

Ok so what is the software all about..Well it helps to create shortcuts in windows so you don't have to move your fingers over the touchpad every now and then clicking the start menu and scanning the all program list  to get the program, which btw is so monotonous....Moreover i get tired every time waiting for the all program list to show(windows is so slow).

So with this software installed i just press the caps key and write the name of program with few strokes i see the name of the program and leaving the caps it opens the program for me...For a detailed use and command set you can visit the site.In the beginning it's somewhat difficult to hold the caps key and type but it becomes part of the habit as the time goes by.

Although there are many softwares which are like this, one such is Launchy (which too is a  great piece of software i used to use earlier it has many features) but one of the feature of Enso that makes the difference  is that it can learn new commands so easily ,i can make my own commands. For example i needed one command for openning one of the batch file i created and didn't appear on the start menu so i made enso learn to open my batch file and then i can just open it by using caps and some keys.Same was to open tomcat which didn't appear in the start menu now i just type  +open tom and tomcat starts off.

So Enso is one such software i am addicted to and will be one of the first softwares which will be on my system if i install new windows.

You can get the software at this link.
